Hi everyone,

Can someone help please? I took out a credit card on a rather "End of the line" or "Scraping the bucket" type company that some of you may of heard of called vanquis,

They are a last resort! If you have bad credit these claim or did do when i applied say they will help you build your credit status back up, Anyways i had a limit of just £100, i paid the first 5 payments of i think £12 per month but then lost my job so i called vanquis to ask for help towards a reduction until i could pick myself up financially and one thing that really is so morally wrong is "PREMIUM NUMBERS" you have to call to speak to someone at sweatshop companies like this!

I refused to wait and wait and wait minute after minute costing me money of cause they are not stupid! So i hung up & tried for a minute later on again waiting and waiting so i tried to email them but couldnt, This was a couple of years ago so please bare this in mind as i think they now use a freephone number maybe due to complaints?

Any ways i gave up trying to contact them and sure enough i got the letters and calls in fact i had 6 missed calls from them one day & i answered it spoke to someone and explained my situation & they was hardly amicable they where more intrested in when i was going to pay something?

So even though i had made arrangement to pay i was STILL being hounded by calls so i blocked them! Then a year later the letters started to come from our beloved "Wescott financial services" the first thing i noticed was the £67 (Which included their charges) i thought i owed vanquis had turned into £350 & i point blank refused to pay it its daylight robbery & should be made illegal!

We moved home & about 6 months ago i started to get the letters again from Wescott but this time it had risen to £670 NOT acceptable from an original £100 debit! its like no one in government is even bothered what these companies charge? So the next thing i got was a CCJ i appealed and stated i had tried to contact vanquis who i found where not just pushy but rude and wasnt happy with the amount i offered to pay them i also explained i had tried several times to call them but the deliberate wait on their premium lines was a scam i went on to mention the Tsunami of phone calls they where giving me so i cut off communications with them, The judge saw my side and the debt was reduced to £230

So i contacted wescott two weeks ago & i had to prove who i was but then they said as i was about to move they wanted my new address for which i said "NO" you are not having it as i am moving in with a mate for a while (Split up with my partner) So now as i have not given them my new address they are ignoring my emails and are simply not replying EVEN though i had proved i was who i was? So i can see where this is going the charges will be on their way back to me so my questions are:

1) Is it legal for them to do what they have done by refusing to deal with me just because i wont give them my new address even thou they know i am who i am?

2) If they start to pile on the charges can i appeal and would it be in my favour under the circumstances of them trying to kinda create a reason to start charging me again?

Many thanks.

    Hi,

Simply bypass the problem, can you pay the £230 ?

If so, post them a cheque, or pay them via internet banking, put it to bed once and for all.

You don't need to speak to them, send the payment along with a reference number, job done.

The best thing to do then is just pay in instalments, whatever you can afford, make regular payments without further reference or contact with them again, until it's paid off.

You don't need to talk to them again, all you have to do is pay the £230.

Further charges are unlikely once it's been to court.

I could be wrong but haven't you just basically said to Wescot "I'm moving but I'm not telling you and you'll never find me"?

I agree with sourcrates just pay what you can. Complete an SOA and see what is affordable.

They can be perfectly reasonable if you can.

Just phone up and make an arrangement for something like £20 a month, whatever suits you.

Thanks guys! I offered them £15pm until March and then i said id pay more off, I also told them they can have my mobile but not the address as where i am going to move to my friend doesnt want me to use as a mail address, Since telling wescott that they have cut all coms with me....So they can start to pile the charges on no doubt...i was asked security questions which i answered correctly so they know its me...

Many thanks i appreciate your help and time.

Your withholding important information from them, that could be seen as you being unreasonable.

Have you made a payment of £15 yet?

In my experience the less information you give to a debt collector the better, believe me !!!
