Doesn't sound like it however if they have reason they can ask for whatever evidence they feel they require.

Is it to prove the source of your deposit? I have seen threads where people have been asked this to prove deposit saving.
  • My boyfriend works in sales so his wages can be up and down but when they have been low they havnt made a substantial effect. This has totally thrown me a bag of nerves.
  • We have deposit gifted, had to have a form signed.

Its not normal. But I have known it happen.
I had to do one last year where the clients payslips were all different depending on whether they worked days/evenings/weekends/bank holidays/overtime etc. I had to go and average them all out...nightmare! They accepted the figures I gave them and it all went through fine.

  • Do you think this could be a bad sign? I feel like it's just thrown a spanner in the works. Fingers crossed this happens for us, hopefully we should have answere by the end of the week. The tipple will either be champagne for approved or whisky for declined! 🙈😩

If underwriters have requested further information. Then it's in order that they can make an informed decision. As your application maybe for some reason on the borderline in terms of the criteria applied by the lender. Not always black or white. There's a grey band in the middle. Keep everything crossed. Hope everything goes well for you and you get the mortgage offer..

I have a variable income and took out a mortgage with Natwest.

They asked for 3 years worth of payslips. They approved me.

After you produced the proof, did they get back to you quite quickly?
