First Direct - First time buyer

Anybody able to shed some light on First Directs mortgage criteria or any first time buyers recently gone with them? I am a first time buyer looking to borrow anywhere in between 3-4x my salary with a 20% deposit, from searching around First Direct seem to be pretty picky and I'm wondering if I would be better going elsewhere than trying to get a mortgage from them? I currently do my banking with them which made them my first choice.
Thanks

Is there any other reason you want to go with them other than the fact you bank with them? Do they have better deals than other lenders?0

The deals seem pretty good but in all honesty I just thought it would be easier to get a mortgage with them as I do my banking with them.0

it is not easier to get a mortgage with the bank that does your current/saving accounts, they apply the same due diligence as anyone elses, current customer or not.
Unfortunately you don't get a headstart or skip a few steps."It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

Would it be worth approaching a broker then?0

I would say so yes. I think the cost is worth it. Applying to your bank will not give you better chances.0
