Hi
As the title says i have a work issue & would appreciate it if someone can advise me please ?

I have worked for a partnership company about 5 years now and last year was offered the job as a trainee manager which i accepted.. Been training for about 8 months now but have had the last 6 weeks off due to being injured in an accident out of work. ( sick note and everything else all supplied )

Today i have returned to work to be informed by my direct manager that i have been stepped down from my trainee manager role back to a normal member of staff with all my manager benefits cut ( meal allowances, pay etc ) without any notice ,meeting or other notice.

Can this actually be legal & can they lawfully do this

First off you need to take the company name out of your post before you get yourself in trouble for bringing the company into disrepute on social media.

Edit - as for the rest of your question, I don't know the answer but if it's a training scheme as opposed to a specific contracted role then I suspect they can.
What reasons did your manager give?

If you were on a training programme which had fixed timings for achieving specific goals, there would certainly be justification for removing you from the programme after missing 6 weeks of the training.
Is there any suggestion that you may be able to enter the programme again at a later date?

its not something i have asked to be honest still getting over the shock. But there was no time limit on the training and i was virtually running the place anyway as the manger now has only joined 4 months ago and is pretty clueless to be honest. There all sorts of shady things going on & i was wondering if this was legal them just stepping me down like this without even any meetings or prior notice.

Time to stop running the place like a manager when you're not. If that's how they treat you, just do the bare minimum and find another job.

Ask for a proper meeting with your manager to clarify the situation.
What are the reasons for being taken off the programme, were there any other issues prior to your illness, can you be put back in the programme? Is it training or a proper contracted role? Have you let your opinion of your manager, or resentment that felt you were running place then someone else came in over your head, show? Have you had regular reviews and what have they said about your performance?
You seem to be assuming it's sickness related. Is that what you be been told?

    Then take it from there.

Are you in a union, because that would be the obvious starting point.
