    Possibly not as good, but still potentially better than a pension or ISA if you invest in the right properties and they are managed well.. I get over 7% net from rents, Capital gains are a bonus and are good currently. The tax changes don't currently affect me as I am not a higher rate taxpayer.

    Of course you can do both - invest in properties using a ltd company and pay yourself a directors pension. Tax free up to the limit on what you can contribute to a pension.
