They weren't always bankrupt friendly only for last year or 2. Since the the regulations last changed most of larger banks have a basic account option, for those with a poor credit history

Nationwide do see to be the best for features though, with contactless and android/apple pay, most of the other banks give you a none contactless card only
  • on the day I declared bankcruptcy I went an opened a basic account with Barclays and nationwide who are the best two. Barclays gave me my sort code @ account number on the spot.

I opened a HSBC and Co-Op basic account just before I went IVA so I could have my salary paid into the HSBC account. I applied for both in case one was declined but as it happened both were succesful and I now use the Co-Op one to manage my monthly food spend - transfer a couple of hundred each month from HSBC

I had a Lloyds bank account prior to going BR (in early 2012) - as I had no OD facility, there was little money in the account and Lloyds weren't a debtor in my BR it was left open (& I asked the OR if he objected to me having it).

Indeed I still use it to this day as my main account (and also have my Ltd company banks with Lloyds).

Well done Lloyds, however, I do have an overdraft so I do not think I will be so lucky.

If you like Lloyds then open up a basic account before BR and set up all your DD's etc,

At the moment Barclays and Co-op don't freeze the account on notification of BR. It also seems the Nationwide is the same but it's not 100% at the moment.
