MH has worsened and bank charges

Hello the past week my MH has got worse. Iv not been taking my meds (pls dont lecture me, coz ive learnt my lesson) and now that I have come to my senses I have found iv got £30 in bank charges from my bank (3 x unpaid transactions). When I am down i dont have the motivation to keep checking my balance n over spend to escape the rubbish in my head. I was in such a bad place I wasnt able to keep track of my bank balance and went a bit below and now they want to charge me £30. I am so worried sick as I do NOT have the £30. I have a lump in my throat as I think how I can cut back n scrape to pay the £30. I'll have to go without so my son can eat. My mood gets more and more low and my heart keeps racing as I worry about what might happen. If they try n take the £30 n its not in my account (which it wont) then I will get even MORE bank charges. I want to go into the bank n explain the situation but I am ashamed. I will have to explain how how anxious n down i have been feeling to a stranger.

You could always write them a letter explaining your medical situation, etc. and see if they will wipe the charges. If your worried about finances if you post an S.O.A and the folks here and can help.

Hi Notsoskintmummy
Sometimes banks will cancel charges if it's the first time a person has gone over the limit. I know it's very hard but could you try phoning and asking them if they would consider refunding you? It might not be necessary to even give them the reason why other than you made a genuine mistake.
Sorry you are having a hard time.

Hi,
I think your best bet is to put pen to paper and explain your situation to your bank, be honest, but stick to the detail.
Tell them your in financial difficulties and suffer from mental health issues, they will be ok with you honestly, they have guidelines for dealing with things like this.
Ask them not to take the charges as you cannot afford them, if you've paid other charges recently, ask for a refund.
It will be ok, honestly.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
