    Probably this or the debt collectors have made an effort to trace you.

    We got a reply from HMRC. The penalty was cancelled :-) wrote that I never got any letter from them etc. I also spoke to a friend of mine who is an accountant and he said that whatever your reason is(well,as long as reasonable) they will cancel the penalty.
