Hackney asking prices up plus 15% in one month

    The smaller the sample size, the less reliable it is for making any interpretations. We don't know that the houses that came onto the market this month are similar to those that come on last month.

    Spoke with a Hackney woman this week asking a million quid for her place, even though this is well beyond the price point for her property type but she is adamant it will sell and she will simply not take any less. Her view is property is in short supply, so cough up or jog on.

    She's a bus driver, bought the place for nothing from the council years ago

    House prices in my area are also on the up. The town has recently had good news (new town centre approved and talks of us finally getting a train station). Granted, houses are much cheaper round here but as wages are lower, it can't be good for locals wanting to buy their first homes.
