We have decided to accept the offer to stay here for the rest of the year. The lease on our flat will end at the beginning of October which is a pain but at least it gives us a number of weeks to move our belongings instead of a mad rush over one weekend. I'm cancelling what I can now (TV licence, broadband etc) and making a long list of when to cancel other things. I'm so grateful that we will have the opportunity to save extra money for a few months and have some time to consider where we would like to move next.
I've been online shopping this weekend as I needed to buy some clothes for autumn / winter and I decided to take advantage of the bank holiday sales. Most of my cold weather clothes are the smarter things that I would wear for work and my usual 'round the house' clothes are all pretty light weight (due to our flat being super-insulated). I've been wearing a duvet like a shawl this weekend which isn't a long term solution! Even though I have been alert for bargains (using cash back sites, sales, discount codes for mailing list sign-ups etc and checking if anyone is selling it cheaper on ebay / poshmark) it feels really strange to have spent money on something other than food. I feel as though I have spent ages shopping but most of that time was in the MSE-phase of finding discounts etc. I will double check the sums to be sure of how much this 'spree' cost, but in any case I think I'm done with shopping for a while!

I grew up in the country; u can't beat it. Only townies give off about the country, tbh😂
Enjoy: it will quite literally be a breath of fresh air!Admin for Tilly Tidy to £1825 DFW challenge: 2021

Fantastic news, there’s nothing better than been able to go on a nice long walk and not meet another soul. It does take a bit of getting used to re the convenience of shopping but it’s better for the wallet! Hope it all works out2

I like lots of layers in the winter, cardigans and I’ve a couple of pashminas and large scarves that work very well for layering.2

It is different but I'm loving it so far - maybe I will be fully converted by the end of this year! 2 -

One caveat on the fresh air...
It's muck spreading season
Cow dung I can live with but if u drive past / live near a field that's been sprayed with pig or hen dung you'll reckon living in a London Sewer wouldn't smell quite so bad!
Also doesn't Ms Cavendish have a tailoress for her fine gowns?!

The solitary walks are my favourite thing so far! We've been living in a town centre for the last 5 years, literally the door to our block opens straight onto the high street and the parks and canal paths were always rammed so I had no time to myself unless I stayed at home. It is bliss being able to go out for a walk and not see anyone!shoppingobsessed2020 said:I like lots of layers in the winter, cardigans and I’ve a couple of pashminas and large scarves that work very well for layering.
I usually do my clothes shopping online because I hate going into shops (and I'm too fond of using cash back sites) but the biggest adjustment so far is grocery shopping. In London we live virtually on top of a supermarket, so we could pop in every day if needed and generally would only shop for a couple of days at a time instead of a big shop. Hopefully this will be good practice with meal planning and grocery budgeting, which hasn't been the best during lockdown
I've ordered lots of things to layer : some of those heat gen tops from Uniqlo, a couple of jumpers & cardigans and big scarf / cape things to add on top. In my head this will all combine to look stylish as well as being warm, but I fear that I might end up looking like the Junk Lady from Labyrinth! At least they will be more streamlined than the duvet I've been carrying around with me this weekend

As a permanently cold person who has spent her share of time in old buildings, my advice is to keep your neck, wrists and feet warm - really thick cosy insulated socks (my favourite ones have an actual tog rating!) and cashmere wristwarmers go very far in making me happy. I also have a big wool scarf / cape thing that I am surgically attached to whenever I’m outside (and sometimes when I’m inside too) from October - May. Also, sounds daft but I find wearing my hair down in the winter helps to trap warm air next to my neck and makes a big difference!Debt at LBM (Dec 2018): £23,167
