Helping son to get on property ladder

My husband and I are in our mid sixties and are mortgage free but would now like to help our son and daughter get on the property ladder, we would like to use some of the equity from our house which is valued at around £250k. They will inherit the house when we die but would rather help them now if possible. Any advice on the best way to go about it?

If you have an income post reitrement, there could be lenders.
You could possibly do equity release but there would probably be very little to inherit.

Ha,see you saw my other post. It's actually my son who is moving, I was looking at car insurance renewal on his behalf. When I realised he would be paying £750 a month house rental it got me thinking re mortgage. Aren't I a good mum lol?0
