CCJ Blunder

Hi Guys, need some help as to what to do next.
i got overpaid by my previous company and they took a ccj out to gain the money back as they only gave me 7 days to repay it. the error was on their part because my notice of leaving wasn't put on record for nearly 3 months. when i offered to set up an agreement to pay some of the money back initially then set up a payment plan it was refused. (this was because the guy dealing with it did not like me from previous dealings) anyway the ccj was set and i offered a sum of £50 a month which was agreed by the courts.
about 2 years after this the company went bump and because they were a council based company their records were taken over by another company. i rang the new company to ask about my ccj as at this time i had enough money to pay it off and wanted to know how i went about it. after 2 weeks of searching they couldn't find any record of it. i rang the county court and they only had the old details of the company. the head if the financial department of the new company advised me to stop the payments and the someone would be in touch. they never have been in touch to this date!
the county court aren't of any help because they only have the old company's details and im stuck as to what happens if this is not settled by the settlement date? its hindered me in getting a mortgage and other things and i need to get it sorted out. any advice would be appreciated.
many thanks

I'm really shocked that they did this - did you tell the judge the circumstances when it went to to court?
I would put the matter in writing to the new company again, and ask them to get back to you regarding this within a certain time frame. I'd ask the court about the possibility of getting the judgement marked as satisfied, as the new company don;t seem interested in keeping the debt going. This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!

yes i wrote a covering letter but i do not think it made much difference. plus ive just had a look at the new company's site and they have been taken over now!! this is just getting ridiculous. ill write to the court and see what they say cant hurt can it.0

You can ask the court to send a letter on your behalf. The form the court needs to send is in the link below. They will write to the claimant at the address they have on record (even if it is the old one) and give them 28 days to respond. If they dont respond in time the court can then satisfy the judgement.
