Not sure employer has taken correct amount

Options
I started my new job on 3rd January

Before starting I put on the new starter form that I wanted to put 5% of my salary into the pension scheme.

My gross salary for January is £2782

But they have only taken £44 pension contribution from me

They have put in £139.10, which is 5% of my months salary.

Does anyone know why I've only contributed the £44?

when you rang Payroll and/or HR to ask them, what did they say?

It's a gross contribution of 2% of £2,782, with the other 0.4% being tax relief...

...though not sure why the OP is paying in 2% if she requested to pay 5%. And if she's paid 2% while the employer paid 5% it's a very generous pension scheme.

Ring HR and chase the email.

This was the response from HR:

"It's because it is updated manually as it is such a young company and guessing didn't go through in time for the early pay run, so the default came out. (2%)

Every pay element has a different system and feeds, so they don't all move at once, sorry.

It is in the records so will definitely kick in next month.

Once you have all your pension info come through, you can always add more to your pension"
