Retiring early

Home after a lovely day I received flowers, plants, chocolates, wine got a surprise gift coming tomorrow. Meal out with work mates and the partners tonight. First of to the secretarys house for a glass of wine.
It still feels strange that I won't be going to work again. Now waiting for DH to finish on Friday.
Party Friday night then who knows what we will do.
Thanks for your messages.
Take care xx0 -

Wow, so that's it Litchielou, you're a free woman!
Mr LW has decided he wants a wee celebration on Saturday, as it'll be the first anniversary of his retirement. He doesn't miss work one iota; since the firm he was with got bought out, the job had changed out of all recognition, and he was getting more and more fed up, so retiring was a good move. And we're pleasantly surprised how little money we manage to live on, specially now he's not doing a 64 mile round trip every day.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -

:j:TIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
First day of being a retiree and I'm up at my normal time of 7 am couldn't sleep any longer.
Had a lovely time last night for our meal given more flowers, balloons and chocolates. Feel
very spoilt.

Welcome to your new life!
I still wake ridiculously early but really enjoy knowing I have a choice of turning over again or getting up and doing what the hell I want.
Have a fabulous retirement - I'll be toasting both you and your OH on Friday and Saturday too!0 -

In fact I think there's a case for still getting up nice and early; the entire day is yours to fill as you choose, and personally, I feel that wasting half of it lying in bed is - well, a waste! If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
I think you might find the getting up early thing has now become a permanent habit.
That surprised me. I knew I was getting up at around 6 a.m. for work each morning and thought I'd find I was lying in till later now that I can do so.
Nope - I still tend to get up at much the same sort of time anyway. It obviously gets so "ingrained" over the years.
Best to turn it round in your head and regard it as a bonus of getting on and starting the day off early imo.0 -
Hi Litchielou :wave:Just wanted to say happy retiement to Mr Litchielou.
I had a strange day yesterday as kept thinking it was Friday, don't know if it was a senior moment but it lasted all day. I had to keep asking DH what day it was, don't think he was that amused after about the 10th time:rotfl:. I suppose one of the best things about being retired is that unless you have any important appointments, it really doesn't matter what day it is:j
nanFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0
