Government loses Brexit vote appeal

Government proven to have no legs to stand on.

Perhaps they can appeal at the European courts? :rotfl:

the majority of judges decided on needing a vote in parliament

the majority of the voters decided to leave the EU

one wonders what the result will be

Think about the good side. Supreme Court ruled Scotland can't have a veto on Article 50.

All SC said it requires a bill in parliament and with Tory majority and many labours also supporting the bill, Brexit is still very likely to happen.

Then constitution and court verdict are upheld and people's will also respected :D

Was there ever much doubt about this?

Not sure why the government wasted time and money appealing it.

It won't make any difference to the outcome in terms of invoking Article 50 in any case.
  • As I say in another thread in these forums:

Are there not threads from earlier days about this?
Have we not known what the outcome would be for a while now?
Did May in "the speech" not already say there would be a vote?

Yes I know the official judgement was only handed down today but let's be honest, it is neither a surprise nor is it anything new.
Unless of course you have been living on another planet for ....... oh, the past week at least.

To show govt. follows and respects constitution.
To take wind out of SNP's sail.
To give remoaners a little taste of happiness.

    This verdict was expected.
