Unfair interest charge

Hi
In 2015 I bought a laptop on a 'buy now pay next year' offer. I saved up and when it came to paying for the item I did so in good faith, four days before the due date as it requested. I went on the company's website to pay, entered all my details and a page came up saying 'your payment of £*** has been accepted'.
A couple of days later the money still hadn't come out of the bank, I rang the company to let them know and they said I would need to speak to my bank. I did this and they said the payment had been authorised but the company hadn't taken it. I spoke to the company again as it still didn't come out and I didn't want to pay again in case it ended up coming out twice.
I then got my next statement with a charge of £104 interest! I rang them again but no one was interested ( spoke to four different people) I told them I wasn't paying this interest charge as I had paid when I was asked to but they obviously hadn't taken the money or there was a problem with their website at the time.
I put in a complaint on their complaints form and even this didn't seem to work as I kept getting a message saying 'session expired, sorry the page you are looking for is not currently available, please press back on your browser' . This must have gone through as I received a letter saying they were looking into my complaint.
In the meantime I had a payment to make on the interest so I rang the company dealing with the complaint and they told me I should pay this and I should get it back as long as my complaint was upheld.
I have photographic evidence of everything I did and it is also in my history on my iPad.
Has anyone else ever had a similar problem?

Hi
If you aren’t satisfied with the creditors complaint resolution after 8 weeks I suggest contacting the Financial Ombudsman Service to take the complaint further.

Very, Littlewoods, all the same under the shop direct brand.
Sounds to me like there was a fault somewhere in the payment process, you should send a written complaint to very, allow them the standard 8 weeks to issue a final response, then as National Debtline says, take it to the FOS if your still not happy.
Thats the correct route to getting this matter sorted out.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Thanks, I've had letters off Shop Direct Finance Company Ltd, so I assume this is from the complaint I put in0
