kitchen scales

If anyone wants electronic scales to weigh food more accurately, Aldi have (in store now) this Salter scale, timer and meat thermometer set at £10 less than in Argos.

The on /off switch is much easier to use than that of my current scale.

  • Thanks but from past experience of salter scales and their inaccuracy I will give them a miss. My current kitchen scales are salter and I would not purchase another set. Their bathroom scales are also very poor and do not work properly on anything but a hard floor.

Looks like it's a choice of Black too which is another turn off for me.

The only scales that will give an accurate reading on anything but a hard surface are the balance type that you have to put weights on.

    Basic laws of physics.

I was lucky enough to be given a set of these - no need to worry about the battery running out, or the scales not working.

I hated my old mechanical scales,as they often jammed, but want to replace my Tesco electronic ones as the on/off switch, consisting of two separate bars, is difficult to use.

I do notice an odd delay, as I make my own bread and one spoonful of flour seems to make no difference to the reading, then the next makes it jump up by quite a lot, but they are quite auarte as parels agree with the Post offies sales.

I always thought Salter were a good brand, but like many good old names, have probably been bought out and cheapened.

Aldi do the sets in red as well as black.

Nothing new, it's the exact same problem with my Salter kitchen scales. They take several seconds to update the weight when anything is added to the scales.

I purchased my Salter scales around 2006 so it looks like Salter scale quality has not been all that fantastic for many years. Made in China with cheap/low quality materials. Mine always read underweight. They are 5Kg scales so probably have quite a margin for error.

The other colours are only available in store.
