As you've only been with your current employer a comparatively short time I don't think it's a simple decision. I'd generally say that if you only get a good offer from your current employer after you hand your notice in, it's time to move on.
However I can see in this instance that the director wouldn't have been looking to promote you so soon after joining, but is keen to retain you. This really is a job for sitting down and listing the pro's and con's of each role and see which comes out on top.0 -
Ask for 2% commission, and get them to put it all in writing.

Your current company only has 25 employees, so your job prospects will be extremely limited. And I cannot emphasise enough that, with the exception of a few industries, the best development you will get is going somewhere else, even for the same job, because you broaden your perspective and appreciation of how different companies operate.
