Apply in store or online?

Hi, just a quick question. Saw a sales assistant job I was interested in applying for. Clicked onto the ad from Indeed and it took me through to TotalJobs which has the apply button at the top of the ad to submit a cover letter and CV. However, in the main body of the ad it says that to apply...

"Pop your CV into store and discuss this opportunity with the Store Manager who will be happy to give you more information about the role."

I've never seen and ad online that encourages people to come into the store. Surely there would be loads of applicants and the manager surely can't personally chat to everybody.

What's the best thing to do? Just apply online or venture into the store?

  • Go in store if you can and chat to the manager. Every retail job I've had I've got from going in to store and handing my CV to a manager. Means they can out a face to the CV and get a feel for you.

I would go in, but try to work out a quiet time to do it. Possibly they get so many online applications they want to weed out the people who don't follow instructions to go in.

  • Thank you for the replies. Yes, was planning to pop in early morning. I don't have recent shop floor experience but they are willing to train. Not sure if they'd be willing with someone my age, though, but I'll have a go nonetheless. It's a clothing store aimed at the more mature person, so maybe, btu then they'd have to pay more obviously.

Just two days per week but I do have another P/T job three days mid-week. One of the days for this job will be weekend which is fine but not sure if you need to be flexible for ALL days mid-week.

I'll take your advice and pop in anyway :)
