  • Congrats on the Paris tickets! I hope you got the events you were aiming for - I know a lot of people were struggling to get tickets to events that are in the scheme of things really quite niche. That sort of thing isn't an opportunity that comes along very often at all.

Managed to get 2 of the three events we wanted for the Olympics and managed to substitute Hockey instead of Cycling because those had already gone.

    In other exciting event news,

    I'M GOING TO EUROVISION 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳

Major bucket list item ticked off (hopefully if everything goes to plan) ✅
Congratulations on the Eurovision tickets especially! You're the first person I've seen that has actually got any.

Thank you!  I also haven't seen anyone else get tickets - which isn't surprising since they only had about 6000 for each of the shows.  We're going to the Jury show for the 2nd semi-final, so not a televised one but just as good and we were aiming for that semi-final show anyway so win-win.

Forgot to make my usual OP to the mortgage this month so its a little late going through but oh well.  That's probably because there's been so much going on at home.

My dad hasn't been very well for a couple of months - turns out he's got an issue with his liver, which wasn't too bad and he was on the list to see someone with an appointment in June but then his latest blood test showed a significant decrease in liver function in a very short space of time.  Cue calls to the hospital from the GP and with no luck, we had to rock up at A&E for him to be seen.  Consultant in A&E was prepping him for surgery there and then, specialist didn't think it was quite that urgent.  So 2 weeks later we're off to see the specialist this afternoon and fingers crossed he'll have a surgery date in the not too distant future.  Work are being very understanding and I'm using some time I'm owed to cover all of this at the moment so I don't have to use annual leave (not that I have much left to take!).  So all in all a little bit stressful trying to keep both of my parents calm and explain to them how to navigate the confusing system that is the NHS around here, especially when the Trust they're dealing with has issues sending letters and emails - we're hoping this appointment is actually happening this afternoon because all we've got to go on is a random 2 minute phone call saying to go to outpatients at 2pm 😂

DH has continued to clear out his shed and garage so we've been making a few trips to the local recycling centre recently.  He's making up for the decluttering by then cluttering up the kitchen with all the seeds he's propagating ready to plant out.  So far we've got peppers and courgettes being babied indoors and then potatoes and carrots fending for themselves in the garden.

The house is tidy, relatively dust free and we're managing to maintain it.  I've a plan to declutter all the wardrobes over the Easter weekend but I may favor a nice relaxing weekend over doing anything!

It was also my birthday last week and DH treated me to a day out in London with tea and cake at a cat cafe (where I wanted to adopt all of the cats and take them home with me, especially the really grumpy ones) and then tickets to see Hamilton in the evening, where I cried and laughed and had an amazing time.

Right better try and finish the work I have to do this morning.  Hope everyone is doing well - will be back with a post-pay day shuffle update on Friday.

Just had a letter from Virgin Media saying they wanted to put our package price up by £7 a month but have managed to haggle it to a £4 a month increase and they're doubling our broadband speed too 👍  Still within the amount I budget for internet so we have at least another year until I have to get all angry on the phone with them again like I did last year.

Another win today was paying for our hotel for our LA stay later on in the year and getting it for £200 less than I'd originally seen it advertised, plus £56 cashback too 🥳

So lots of MSE wins today and hopefully should have some news about my dad's stuff this afternoon as well; consultant appointment went really well on Monday and he's been referred to a specialist centre as he's a "special and unusual case" and they were discussing him with MDT yesterday afternoon.  Dr was very sure that he'd be seen next week and have surgery in April so 🤞 and then everything should go back to normal.

Also did a massive presentation at work yesterday to over 150 people and it went amazingly well with awesome feedback so feeling very happy today!  Payday tomorrow and I can't wait to update the spreadsheets!
