Your current scheme, does it end with a job at the end, or will you be searching for a permanent role when it ends?
Is the new offer a permanent job offer?

  • If you are convinced that the job in London is likely to be better for you long-term, then I would move.

If you were going to interviews now, then asking why you wanted to leave a 18-month grad scheme after only 6 months would be something you'd certainly get asked. But I don't think anyone would be fussed or would even know that the grad scheme was supposed to be 18 months after you had a year or two's service with the other employer.

Do check your contract - sometimes you have to repay training fees if you leave a grad scheme early.

We have the opportunity to apply internally for roles, however I'm convinced these roles will be exec roles and therefore not likely to be a direct step up. However, I doubt I will stick around then anyway because it's not the right industry for me.

The new job is a permanent role.
