Coventry BS particularly strict lenders?

I'm wanting to remortgage to consolidate unsecured debt and a bit extra for home improvements.

Coventry BS look to have some good deals and looks like they allow debt consolidation.

Are they particularly strict lenders. Has anyone had any experience of dealing with them?

Thanks :)

Picky rather than strict I would say. If that makes sense.

Some good rates and features, I tried them but because of a recent BTL I purchased they wouldn't lend enough, they took the BTL outgoings into account but not the income as its not been declared on my latest tax return. I ended up staying with my current lender (Coop) and did a product switch which took ten minutes. I was only looking to save about £15 pm anyway but liked some of their Offset and flexx products as they allow unlimited overpayments and no ERC, might try them again when my two year fix with coop ends.
  • Just come off the phone to the Coventry with an AIP. Need to go through the mortgages with us now.

Fingers crossed it all goes through ok. :)

If you are applying to consolidate debt and release equity concurrently. Then you'd expect them to be very thorough when appraising your case internally. Absolutely nothing to do with being strict or picky. Just very sound commercial business lending policy.
  • Just a quick update on our remortgage ...

Called the Coventry BS 20/1 - they went through all of the figures over the phone, they did a hard credit search and gave us an AIP
Sent in full application to the Coventry on 26/1
Received remortgage offer through the post today 2/2

Remortgage figure £126,000 (£84k left on current mortgage, £32k debt consolidation, £10k home improvements)
    House value £292,000
    15yrs @ 1.39% Flexx for term

So relieved, I wish we'd have done it earlier though.
