Moorcroft

I have had a letter from Moorcroft, which is essentially threatens court actions unless I increase my payments, which I am not in a position to do. The debt is still with the original creditor and Moorcroft are collecting on their behalf. From what I have read, you tend to get ccj's from companies who have bought the debts and you aren't paying. Am I right? Does this mean Moorcroft is full of hot air, or should I be concerned about a ccj?

Does this mean Moorcroft is full of hot air ?
Hi,
essentially yes.
All they can do is advise there client, they have no power to initiate legal action themselves.
Unless you get a letter from the original creditor saying, we will start court action, as a pose to, we may start court action, then you can ignore it.

Why do Moorcroft think you can afford to pay them more than they are currently receiving?
Assuming you are self-managing your debts, and if you want to shut them up, send them an income and expenditure statement which evidences you cannot afford to pay them anymore.
If you are not self-managing your debts and are using a third party such as StepChange, then I would just write back to Moorcroft and advise that SC (or whoever) are supporting you to manage your debts and they have provided all creditors with a breakdown of your income and expenditure and have clearly evidenced that you are paying what you can afford to towards clearing this debt.
It doesn't mean they will stop harrassing you, but it's worth a try.DFW Nerd No. 1484 LBM 07/01/15 Debt was £95k  Now debt free and happy :j0
