As expected, a wheelchair user won his case in the Supreme Court against First Group bus company, who will now need to do more to accommodate disabled passengers.
He had won in the High Court, but they appealed that and won in the Court of Appeal, so it has taken 5 years in all and a lot of Costs.

Please be polite to OPs and remember this is a site for Claimants and Appellants to seek redress against their bank, ex-boss or retailer. If they wanted morality or the view of the IoD or Bank they'd ask them.

I am not sure you could call that a win. Did you read more about it, or watch the live judgement from court, or just read this article?0

Moral victory perhaps, but as the bus driver has no actual powers to force people to give up seats / space it's not really going to make any difference.0

What's this got to do with "Employment, Jobseeking & Training"?0

Merely the outcome is 'a win', given:
The appeal was unanimously allowed;
From what President of the Supreme Court, Lord Neuberger said;
The Equality & Human Rights Commission described it as, "a victory for disabled people's rights."
Oh and First Group have to pay the Costs of the action, (hence a shareholder today stated: "it's outrageous that First Group wasted so much time and money on this case - and still lost.")
But yes, how it's implemented will be interesting, ie the suggestion by the Peers that bus drivers should refuse to drive away until eg a mother with a buggy alights to make space for a wheelchair is hardly going to work all of the time.Please be polite to OPs and remember this is a site for Claimants and Appellants to seek redress against their bank, ex-boss or retailer.
