It often pays to get professional advice from someone who will think outside the box and is not just coming up with what their firm offered

A little over a year ago I wanted to remodel an old 60s kitchen. My sister had had dealings with a Chartered Architect some time previously.

He came and told me I'd be daft to remodel the old kitchen and suggested instead that I turn my late mothers disabled suite into a kitchen diner living area ( I live alone) and the old kitchen into a utility room. I did it. Yes it did cost me more but it is now the most comfortable and most used room in the house. My friends can't believe how self contained it is and it is very economical.

I paid the architect for a set of 3 drawings we tweeted my favourite.

The point I'm making is get a professionals view on what can and can't be done but someone who can think outside the box and whose advice is independent. It could be a costly mistake otherwise

If you haven't committed may I offer a suggestion: don't let the people fitting the kitchen pay an independent designer to do the job

Why? Well the kitchen people will sell the designs that they do; an independent designer will give you a better layout. I paid £300 to have mine designed, it give me a more serviceable kitchen and I actually saved the designers fee

    Think about it
