The private pension age has been edging higher for a while. It was raised from 50 to 55 in 2010. It will probably be 70 and there will be no tax free lump sum by the time I retire.

There is nothing to stop you retiring whenever you like. YOu don't have to wait for either state retirement age or your works pension to kick in.
If early retirement is your goal then look for alternative investment opportunities.0 -
