Colbie grew up in the idyllic clime of Malibu, California with music all around her. Her father, Ken Caillat, co-produced Fleetwood Mac's ‘Rumours’ and ‘Tusk’ albums, later running his own record label and she openly admits that she learned a lot from these influential talents.
She began singing with serious intent at the age of 11 after hearing Lauryn Hill's version of ‘Killing Me Softly’ and being struck by its beauty, but it was only when she took up the acoustic guitar at the age of 19 that the floodgates opened and her own songs really started to flow.
With the help of producer, Mikal Blue and singer/songwriter, Jason Reeves, Colbie has crafted an album which is full of memorable lyrics and catchy melodies including ‘Bubbly’, the song which earned her the number one unsigned artist spot on MySpace for 4 months, garnering an almost unbelievable 10 million plays.
