DBS Fee deductable?

in Cutting tax
Hi all
Wife started a new job a few months ago and had to pay £62 out of her (my) own pocket before she started for a DBS check. This is not being refunded by the employer (crazy, i know, but apparently that's normal in the care sector)
So i assume that would be a tax deductible expense? If so i can make a note of it now and then put it on her tax return next year.
Out of interest, we do tax returns as we get rental income, but what do other people that don't do SA do?

I'd imagine probably not as having the check only puts you in a position to do the job, but isn't actually a cost incurred in the course of doing the job.0
