    Have you considered "renting" someone's drive while they're out at work? I hear that's quite common in cities. If you fancy the move up North i'll sell you a parcel of land with a drive and shed, space for 3 cars for half that.

    OP is in London, all weights and measures are out the window.

    If he sold his £800,000 1 bedroom flat and moved up North, he will be able to buy a few nice houses is he liked.

    I suspect that by buying the parking space you would add a decent value to your flat - maybe worth asking a local estate agent what the value would be?

    Will you physically own the space - ie. it is not leasehold? Stop some of these parking companies ....

    Have you thought of offering less?

    Check out some of the 'Rent your parking space' websites, There may be someone nearby willing to rent out space for a lot less than £25K

    By "nice" houses i presume you mean fairly priced :j. My 2 bed terrace cost me £60,000 (needing work, mind) - not sure how any of you manage to buy anything down there.
