Fake letters?

Over the course of the last couple of weeks I've had several strange letters. The first one was saying that I had a debt and was asking for income details for myself and my partner but it didn't have an amount or who the the creditor was. The second letter said words to the effect of we have traced you from my previous address, which was an address from 2 years ago. (I was registered to vote at all properties since the one they referred to) telling me to contact them on a number, there was no explanation of why I should ring them. I have received a letter today from Halifax saying as they haven't been able to contact me they have transferred my Halifax credit card to Robinson Way limited. I did have a credit card in 2004 and it was for a substantial amount and I defaulted not long afterwards but this letter looks fake. The Halifax logo looks fuzzy and it's not printed straight. Not to mention that the debt was passed long ago to another DCA. Although I haven't paid anything of it in a long while. What should I do? I only have this last letter. The others were printed very cheaply too. Is there anywhere I can go to to check out the authenticity? Are there any other stories like this out there? It might be straight up its been a number of years since I accrued the debt. Thanks in anticipation.

Robinson way are a genuine debt collection agency.
How long roughly since you last paid this debt ?

Hi Louis'friend,
I can understand your concern in a situation like this. As they have already written to you, I would suggest you write back to them. You can send them the 'proveit' letter and ask for more details. From there you may be able to further dispute it on the grounds of limitations as sourcrates has mentioned or (if that isn't applicable) you can consider a payment plan.
If they don't send you any more details but continue to contact you then you can complain on the grounds of harassment.
