Solar panel savings

Ok, so first post so be nice...
I bought my first house in November with my partner and 2 children, we have solar panels on the roof, since then i have been arguing with energy company's as they want to charge us £72-90 per month.
The previous people where paying £45 a month for gas and electric?! does this sound about right?
I'm seeing so much information saying i'm going to be getting a cheque from the energy company, giving us money back. as there is so much information, i'm getting lost and confused by all the bit part information from the energy company.
So i guess my main questions are...
1. What energy company are people with that have solar panels?
2.How do you get a energy company to accept you have solar panels, so they don't give you massive quotes?
3. Do i just expect a cheque from a my energy company every quarter?
Please excuse my naivety, first house stress etc

Are the panels yours?.
Some panels were installed free of charge in exchange for the FIT payments.
Did the previous owner pay for them?.
If they are yours and not another party's then you would have to register them in your name to get the FIT payments.
This should have been sorted out by your solicitor when you bought the house.
FIT payments do not have to come from the energy company that supplies your elec and gas.4kWp, South facing, 16 x phono solar panels, Solis inverter, Lincolnshire.0 -
You don't say what size of house or standard of insulation. However £90 a month would be about an average payment for gas and electricity for a family of four.
As said above the income from the solar panels - if you own them - is a separate payment.
Don't over-estimate the savings on your electricity bills from solar panels; £10 a month would be a good figure.
Incidentally regardless of you owning the solar panels, or having them owned by a Rent a Roof company, your solicitor should have briefed you on the implications; particularly in the latter case.0 -
If the panels are owned by you (and not a Rent a roof company) and properly registered then the process is that you send a reading from the generation meter every three months. A cheque will then be sent from the energy company. The rate at which you are paid depends on when the panels were installed. However at this time of year the amounts will be pitiful compared to what you will get from late spring to early autumn.Install 28th Nov 15, 3.3kW, (11x300LG), SolarEdge, SW. W Yorks.
