EX is refusing to respond to requests to untie financially

    Thanks for your reply, I've confirmed with the bank what the process is, I want to unlink myself financially from him once the mortgage issue is resolved. I'd prefer not to leave an account dormant if possible but unless he plays ball, I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place.

    I had a similar problem and it wasn't resolved until the bank changed their procedure. They did however allow me to block the account so it couldn't be used. I called every 6 months to check everything was okay they informed me that they had changed their policy and at that point I closed the account...what I'm trying to say is keep checking.

    Oh Nd if he's being awkward now I'd get a valuation done on your house by an independent surveyor/ estate agent & hope the valuation hasn't increased by more than you have put in since the split.

    Thanks, I will try and get the account blocked as I don't trust him to stop using it.

    I got the house valued when we split up and have that in writing. It was valued at the same price we purchased it for & I have the declaration of trust protecting my deposit.
