Spend or save? which is it? We see all these posts and threads to save money and make money and I admit to being part of it but for what aim?
Spend or save, die a broke or rich man - just looking at thoughts of people from someone who is reasonably well off but to be honest not 100& happy in life.

A really tricky one. If you have enough money to fulfill your dreams whilst you are young enough to appreciate them and healthy enough to enjoy them then go for the starsTry and do a good deed every day.0

For me its about choice and whilst mine are limited ( I am no big earner) I save in some areas to spend in others.
At the mo, I am saving for carpets, holiday and Christmas along with various bills. I dont have debt (mortgage will be paid in 2 years) and I refuse to pay the price of debt so I manage my money the old fashioned way with a little bit of the new!
I save and I stooze.0 -
Both..........you could save your whole life and do nothing with it going to the grave a rich person, what is the point in that ?
Life is all about moderation, save what you can and spend it on what you like, life after all, is for living.0 -

Like in buddhism the middle path is often the best.0 -

No point at all. Shrouds don't have pockets. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.

It's so your children can have an "inheritance" and then spend the money you worked so hard to gather having a great time,
or in the case of the super rich destroying themselves with drink, drugs, crashing fast cars and gambling. I'm not cynical I'm realistic

I think the answer lies in Mr Leak's signature:
"Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure nineteen pounds nineteen and six, result happiness. Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure twenty pounds nought and six, result misery."
As long as there's more coming in than going out, not much else matters.
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
Mr Macawber from Dickens I do believe!0

When our rather comfortably off dad shuffles off to buffalo, my brother and I are going to buy all the things he disproves of with our inheritance - motorbikes and a couple more electric guitars - it's great growing old disgracefully!! He's so tight he won't even spend it on himself!!0
