Mileage allowance relief

Hi,

I’m looking into whether I can reclaim any mileage allowance relief for the OH, who worked as an interpreter. She was typically paid mileage at 45 p per mile, but 25 p per mile for Access to Work jobs. AtW mileage of 3186 miles in total:

-Apr 13 548 miles
-Apr 14 974 miles
-Apr 15 617 miles
-Apr 16 1047 miles

As I understand it, I should be able to complete a P87 form for each year individually and claim back the tax (total of 0.2 x £0.20 x 3186 = £127.44) on the difference between 25 and 45 p. Please can anyone confirm and advise whether AtW mileage is eligible for MAR?

We don’t have ‘records’ of the 45 p mileage, but a record of mileage expenses received each month on payslips, so can calculate this (less than 5500 miles for each year, so below the 10,000 threshold). Will it be an issue not having more detailed records than this?

Are the Access to Work payments a grant from the Jobcentre rather than a payment made by the employer.

The payments were made to my OH as mileage from her employer, but I believe that the employer would have, in turn, claimed this from the Jobcentre.
As the payments to my OH were from the employer, can we still claim the mileage relief allowance on this?
