Argos - I chose wrong tablet, can't swap

I bought an ipad Air last week from Argos. I have used it for a few days but still have the box etc. I have since changed my mind and would prefer to pay more and change for the ipad Pro . I understood I had 30 days but they tell me as I have broken the seal I can't exchange it.
Is there any way I can get a change or refund considering the item is still in the condition as new ? I can wipe the drive and reset factory settings. Yes, I know it's my mistake but I still thought you had 30 days on any product. John Lewis would have exchanged it no problem.

Its similar with clothes though, you need to return with all the labels, same with other goods they need to be in the original sealed packaging so they can be resalable.
John Lewis might have taken it back but that is because they will usually then sell it as a discounted opened item. The John Lewis return policy does state "It's important that any unwanted item, unless faulty, is returned in a resaleable condition. We'd expect this to mean that you've kept all original packaging and labels, and that it's undamaged and unused" so technically they wouldn't have to accept a return on an opened and used iPad. Argos aren't as generous as they don't want to take the hit and sell as a discounted item. As a customer I wouldn't buy an ipad without the original plastic wrap around it without a significant discount as I wouldn't know if it is correctly working.
You could sell on eBay, but you won't get the full price back.
Sorry its not what you want to hear, but you should have gone to a store where you can test both models first and made sure you bought exactly what you needed.0 -
If you wanted that peace of mind you should have used John LewisEx forum ambassador

It's not the end of the world as it's still a fantastic product. I just wanted to pay a bit extra and future proof it a bit more as it's for mainly music making. I did look into the pro but was put off by the large size. I didn't realise they bought out a smaller screen version of the pro. The reason for Argos was they were the only store that had a 128 GB model in stock in my area and I had to travel outside my country for it. I think I was impatient and wanted it that day. Again, not the end of the world.0
