Forgotten Employment History

Hi,

My mother is due to retire next year and is unable to recalled all of her employment history to check for any pensions that may have been opened or paid into.

Is there anyway, she can request her employment of the last 50 years from the government through her income tax or National insurance payments to them?

If she worked in government or might have worked in any job with a final salary pay scheme the HMRC Contracted Out Helpline can tell her which schemes received contracted out money on her behalf. She can then supply that information to the Pension Tracing Service.

Her online state pension statement has a full version that will tell her every year she worked or got credits through unemployment, say. It doesn't say which firms but it will that way let her know which years she still needs to track down.
