There is a place for them. A niche where they work.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
A useful tool sometimes, though for those who will invest instead that is likely to usually be better if there is sufficient money to deal with the risks. Good with very low risk tolerance and perhaps also if their tax treatment is useful.
Standard lifetime annuities are also a useful tool sometimes, though not normally around state pension age in normal good health with typical pension pot sizes, where state pension deferral funded by drawdown tends to win. I fully expect to eventually buy one or more annuities in my 80s or if in sufficiently poor health sooner.0
