Overpaid by work, need some advice!

    they already spent it that's why they will be short.


    I meant going forward, im under the impression the money spent will be paid back over 18 months or something.

    dont know what posses people to spend money they know is not theirs though. first month.. ok... second month onward... hmmm.

    If you recently reduced your hours you could ask to increase them back to the original amount for a few months and they take the over payment back that way. Doing it that way you could argue they will get their money back sooner than the 18 months they are willing to wait now.

  • The offer to repay over 18 months is extremely generous and I think if you complain this offer could be withdrawn or even worse you may find yourself out of a job.

    Years ago I was overpaid - I had been given a very large one off pay rise and in error the payroll department gave me an additional rise which had been negotiated for the rest of the company they even backdated it! My boss was the MD and as soon as I realised what had been done I advised him - payroll offered to deduct the additional payment over six months which I turned down. A cheque was sent to them that night for the overpayment.
