Can anyone here explain my teachers pension?

I am struggling to understand my teachers pension. It's all very confusing. I am 42 and have only been teaching since Sept 2010, so my pension pot isn't very large. I'd like to make some extra payments but there are so many options I don't know what to do.
Does anyone here know about these? Or know who I should speak to?
