Hi Everyone
I make 16,000 per year (yes, nothing...). I've started working on Dec 12th and got paid Dec 30th. I guess that would be for 3 weeks of work.
I just dont understand why the base pay (before any deductions etc) is 909.09 and according all the salary calculators the base pay should be 923 (307.69 per week).
Where are the 13.91 gone?
Thanks!!

try
if Mon to Fri Dec has 22 work days, worked 15.
(16000/12) * (15/22) = £909.090 -

yes, if paid monthly, though only 1230.77 if paid every 4 weeks, but you'll get that 13 times.0 -
probably
won't be worth discussing but the part month method used can result in a 3 week wage between 15/20 - 15/23
some use annual 15/260 or 15/2610 -

I will get paid last working day of the month.
By the way maybe you guys can help me with this as well. I was off sick for 2 days (thursday and friday) Will they deduct them from my salary? what's the most common practise here in the UK? company is Bupa if it helps.0 -

The only way to know is to look at your terms and conditions, which you may or may not have been given yet (should be within 8 weeks). Or the employer may make them available on an intranet.
Some employers pay nothing but Statutory Sick Pay, which only kicks in once you've been off work for three days, and if you think your current salary is 'nothing' then don't imagine SSP is going to help a lot.
Others offer a discretionary scheme, where your manager or HR decide on a case by case basis whether or not they're going to pay you for any periods of sickness.
Better companies offer company sick pay, in which as long as you follow their reporting procedures properly, you'll get full pay for a specified period, half pay for a further period, and SSP after that (even that runs out eventually ...) Those periods may increase the longer you've been there.
So hopefully you phoned in sick on Thursday, and again on Friday unless it was clear on Thursday you wouldn't be better. You'll probably have to complete a form on Monday and possibly have a back to work interview with your manager. (I was sick on Friday, and if I'm not fit mine will go along the lines of "Are you better?" "Almost." "OK, take care of yourself, how was your holiday and Christmas?" "Great thanks, how was yours, and when can we talk about all the things we put on hold while one or the other of us was on leave?" but your employer may have a more structured way of doing things.)
Note that all your periods of sickness will be recorded, and may be discussed if there seems to be a pattern.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
