Fired for Gross Misconduct, what now?

I was fired yesterday for gross misconduct. It was instant dismissal. I don't want to go into details but I did wrong and got found out.
I now don't know what to do, I have worked there 9 months and my work record as far as I know to that point was great.
I have looked online and it seems I may not be able to claim jsa....I have no money and have a 17 yr old too.
Need advice please!!

    I think you'll need to look for a job where the reason for your dismissal is not considered significant, although if it was for dishonesty or violence then that may be difficult wherever you try. Going into business for yourself might be something to think about.

    Just done a quick search and it looks like you can get a "hardship payment" if you have been sanctioned

    If it was a case of simply going against company procedures it might not create too many problems for the future. However, if it involved any form of dishonesty it could be a very different matter.
    Would your former employer be willing to accept your resignation, and provide a neutral reference, rather than sacking? That would make it easier to provide a believable explanation of your departure to a prospective employer

    Go and look for another job. If you think your sacking will prevent you from finding work now, surely that would be the case in 1 year or 10 years? You cant be on benefits forever. Many references only ask how long you worked there and what you were paid, so you might be able to find work without this mistake coming to light. Unless it was something really bad. Depends what work you do. Speak to the job centre as you might get a hardship payment ( I think you have to pay it back). Don't forget to tell anyone you deal with (rent, utilities etc) that you have lost your job. Feed yourselves first then pay token payments on other stuff if you have anything left. Is your child in education? Do you get child benefit? If so use it for food and ask for it weekly if you don't already.you could also approach your local floating support service. They can advise on benefits and refer you to a food bank.

    Can you temp? Volunteer? Just anything to create come continuity.

    If you're not averse to lying, you could try claiming the was a new year slump at old job

    Without more detail is hard to suggest anything specific, but some employmeny sectors are notoriously less picky than others

    Dont lie, the best you can do is only answer what they ask and hope they dont ask questions you would rather they didnt ask.

    If its a half decent job, they will contact your old employer and find out you was lying anyway otherwise you'll have a 9 month gap.

    What possessed you to do something sackable when you need the job so badly.

    You are still owed any outstanding wages and unused holiday pay - ensure you receive that whenever payday was likely to fall. January is the skint month for most anyway.

    Loads of "as one door closes, another opens" jobs out there, dust yourself down and get back out there as soon as you can.

    You "could" say you were working for a relative for the nine month period and thus get a reference from them instead?
