Hi all,
Received a phone call yesterday but wasn't near the phone so it went to voicemail, the message left was just 3 minutes of whichever show was on VikingFM at the time, and ended with a man saying "hello VikingFM" as if answering a phone, at which point my message ended.
I rang that number back and spoke to a lady who thought it might be competition related and gave me a number for the studio and told me to ring that one, which I did. But the man there had no idea what was going on either and said he'd send an email around to try to find out who had contacted me and why.. I haven't heard anything back yet and he said normally they would send an email if you've won and can't contact you on the phone, but I haven't had one of those either.
I sent a quick message to them on facebook earlier to see if they could help me find out the reason but still waiting for a response.
Just wondering if anyone had anything else to suggest please?
Thank you in advance.
Update: Apparently yes I was a winner of one of the Advent competitions but "unfortunately I had to move onto another entrant" which doesn't quite seem fair but there we go.

Hi, I had a call from them yesterday too. They were calling winners from the advent competition. The person I spoke to was Gary and I think he's in Mon-Friday 01482 3251410

Thanks redster, yes that's the number I rang first before being told to ring the studio. Someone must've just had their wires crossed.Anchor yourself to the foundations of everything you love.

Does seem a bit unfair ... Viking's standard terms state :
"All prizes must be claimed within twenty-one (21) days of our notification of winning unless otherwise stated, except for prizes for Competitions promoted via http://winit.winsomething.co.uk, which must be claimed within five (5) days being notified that you’ve won."
Can't see any specific terms for the advents0 -
Sorry to hear that, that's not fair! It happened to me with them a few years ago, they called when I was on holiday and when I called back I could not get a response. I didn't think that the advent comp was time critical in terms of answering the phone.0

I pointed out the terms and conditions to them thanks sleepyjones but the response was just "sorry for the inconvenience but there's nothing else I can do".. like you redster I don't see how an advent was that time critical that they gave it to someone else when I rang back within 30 minutes, I only entered for a couple of their prizes, products not experiences so it's strange.
Is there anything else I can do at this point or should I just forget it and move on?Anchor yourself to the foundations of everything you love.

I'm not really sure, without seeing specific terms for the advents it's hard to say.
I think the thing to do but would be to email them and explain the situation, get something in writing ... they might offer more detail if they have time to compose an email, as opposed to be being asked on the spot via the phone.
Do you know what the prize was?0 -

Going by your answering machine message they wanted someone "on air" so it could be it was made time critical by that and not the actual prize - but the T&C's should have covered it, it has certainly been on others where they call and move on.0 -
I would ask them for a copy of the T&C's and if there is no mention of it complain to them and then the ASA. The winners were not brought to air.0

Thanks everyone, I've only spoken to him by email (after sending 2 facebook messages and filling out their contact form) so I'll ask him for T&Cs along with confirmation of what I was supposed to win.
I don't expect to get anything now but once I have the info I'll look at telling the ASA (never used them before) just so they're aware.Anchor yourself to the foundations of everything you love.
