Needed: mattress base

Options
We are looking to buy a new mattress base for a wooden bed, 25 years old. The present mattress is 5 years old, but not supportive enough, and OH reckons a new mattress base will do the trick.

It seems only Ikea can supply one and our nearest is a long, unpleasant drive away. We have visited local bed/mattress shops as well as searching on line. Does anyone know of another firm selling them?

Many thanks.

Have you thought about getting a local carpenter to build you one? Not that difficult to do and could be a much more solid structure than the old one.

Thanks for your reply. OH intends to put fitted slats into bed frame, then mattress base and mattress on top. A bit like the fairy story of the princess and the pea I'm afraid!
