Link financial chasing??

I have read on here about a company called Link Financial chasing people for old debts. We have recently settled a debt at an agreed amount which was £900 lower than the amount to be paid back if it continued over the set period.
The amount agreed was paid to the company, within the time bracket etc. We called to confirm payment, and yes all was received. We were told the account now stood at NIL.
We have now received a letter from this Link Financial company wanting the £900??!!!
We have not made any contact with Link, but upon ringing the company that originally had the debt (the one that has now been totally paid off and account is at NIL) and they say Link has brought the account and they are after this £900 which is classed as interest???
Really not sure what is going on, as I say we have made no contact with link and do not intend to but the original company aren't being particularly helpful now they have their money....advice and help please.......

    Hi,

Did you get the settlement figure confirmed in writing and that any remaining balance will not be chased by them or there agents ?

If not they can sell on the remaining balance and the dance starts all over again with the new DCA.

Always, always get these agreements confirmed in writing, otherwise, legally, you don't have a leg to stand on.

Creditors cannot add interest to defaulted debts, unless it specifically says they can on the original agreement, most forbid this.

The person you spoke to does not know what they were talking about, and was probably making it up as they went along.
