Changed name on electoral roll and now don't exist!

I've changed my name in September to my new married name on the council electoral roll. Sent evidence of my marriage certificate etc to council and they have amended their end.

Just gone to my Equifax report and it says I'm not confirmed at my address and shows my new married name and this updated November 2016.

I've lived here 16 years....I am the same person.... but now because changed my name they say I don't exist and not confirmed at the address! Just about to apply for a mortgage so this is not good timing! How do I get it resolved quickly? Arrrgh! :mad:

Ask the CRAs to link your names.

Or get divorced. But probably easier to link the names.

Been on phone to Equifax 30 minutes now awaiting for someone to speak to.....probably quicker and easier to get divorced!

After speaking with Equifax for what felt like half a lifetime they still can't explain why on the 30 Dec 16 I was recorded confirmed as present at my address and it showed my change of name had updated November 16. To then see on my report 6 Jan 17 only 7 days later I am now showing as not confirmed as present but it still shows as change of name made on November 16?!

I asked for my accounts to be linked but it fell on deaf ears and they said they can't update until the council sends them the update for the electoral roll in 2017!!! I'm like what!? At end of 2017?! ..... Yes!

I am now showing as red on the electoral roll section as not confirmed at this address when I have lived here 16 years!

What now!? Will this affect my mortgage application?

I had exactly the same problem when I changed my name after marriage. For a full 12 months following the name change I couldn't get any form of credit. My husband had to take out a mobile phone contact for me because I couldn't get one in my own name. It was a bloody nightmare!

Strangely, I didn't have the same problem when I reverted back to my maiden name when we divorced.

This is the main reason why I haven't changed my name since my recent marriage - I'm not going through that again!!

I hope you have more success in rectifying this than I did.

Oh dear doesn't bode well for my mortgage application then!

All is ok on Experian report it's just the Equifax one and they haven't a clue what they are doing. Totally useless when I telephoned! Have an online query logged so will see what useless reply I get to that!
