Help put my mind at rest

Im writing on behalf of my girlfriend,

basically, she has an offer in principle, has sent all payslips, proof of address and proof of identity to Northern Rock, also she has sent a letter regarding her employment details and signed by her boss etc.

Northern Rock have now asked for bank statements, heres where things may get a little tricky. She gets paid cash, and although she has always paid some of her wages into the bank, a few weeks last month she only paid half of her wages into the bank and paid off our holidays with the remainder, for the last few weeks she has paid the full amount in, but now (the born worrier that she is) she is thinking that she wont get a mortgage, she has exemplary credit rating (never ever missed a payment) should she be allright, or could there be problems?

how she gets paid doesnt matter. They are probably checking the statements to look for overdrafts and undeclared loans.

  • As long as she declares the full amount as taxable income there should be no problem.

NR are probably looking for regular outgoings as above to ensure affordability.
  • Thanks guys, yes everything she earns is declared, its just old school boss paying his employees in old school methods. what she was most worried about, was that she hasnt paid the full amount in every week lately (so that she could draw it straight back out) I keep telling her that it should be fine, but she worries so much that she manages to make me worry.
  • As the others stated, they cant discriminate against people who get paid by cash, under the FSA rulings re being fair to customers. They will be looking for any undisclosed credit, eg. if there's a monthly payment to Joe Bloggs Car Finance and she hasnt declared it they will question it and no doubt end up being added to her monthly outgoings and thus her maximum loan would decrease. If she's declared everything, she'll be fine.
  • Well I guess everything will be fine then, she has definitely told them all outgoings, so i dont see any problems, thanks for your replys. made me and her feel much much better
