    Fresh produce like broccoli isn't kept for a year - it's usually harvested and packed in the field and sent straight to the retailers. It doesn't last in good condition for very long but you should be getting more than a couple of days out of it.

    Root veg can be stored for longer - our ancestors would have made clamps to keep the veg fresh over the winter but we use climate and atmosphere controlled stores now.

    I heard answer on GQT for attracting bees etc to garden. One answer was plant some parsnips, so I did when reduce yellow stickers were offered

    They grew a treat & bees / hoverflies etc loved them, with a MSE gain because they self sowed & free parsnips the year after, if you are not fussed where they pop up
