im not entitled to any housing benefits or council tax benefits ive done quick calculation on one of the free benefit check sites. i do get tax credits and working tax credits already. No i have contacted my local cab but trying to fit in an appointment around my work wasn't possible so i have been in touch with the national debtline to see if they could offer any advice but still waiting on a reply from them
CraigI no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0 -
Hi Lilly
I’m sorry you haven’t heard back from us yet.
CIS is right that a Time To Pay Order could be effective for you at this point as it can stop the use of diligence such as a bank or earnings arrestment. You apply for a Time To Pay Order on a form called DSA2, which you can get from the Sheriff Court.
A debt arrangement scheme (DAS) could also work for you, particularly if you have other debts you need to pay as they could be included.
If your bank account was actually arrested they need to leave at least £494.01 as a protected amount in there.

On the DD - yes, once you get your 2017/18 bill through and then let them know you want to pay by Direct Debit. You should be able to pay over 12 months, assuming things are the same in Scotland on that score.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
