Hey!
So Im looking into a new gym membership and I know both clubs are pricy but I usually go around 5-6 times a week for classes, gym and swimming. I cant decide which club to join as David Lloyd is £60 a month, but it is just under 30 mins from my house. Im worried if I have a gym that far away it will be an excuse not to go some days.
Virgin is working in at £57 a month and is 15 mins away from me. But i kind of resent payong that now there as it was originally sold as a 'multi club membership' where I could use multiple gyms around the area. Howveer after Nuffield bought over most virgins in scotland it feels like you are paying £10 more every month for nothing.
What would you guys do? I prefer David Lloyd but feel Its probably not the smartest option I just dont know!
Thanks
Sx

Only you can really make that decision. If you feel the one 30mins away will stop you going then the the other one will be better value if you use it more.
Have you compared what both offer and which one best match your needs. Do both have the classes you want at the times you want? Which one has the most convenient opening hours to fit your life? etc etc.
Do they offer a free trial membership so you can try out each for a days?Learn to speak Norfolk:
Translations: Naarfok = Norfolk, Narridge = Norwich, jargon = like running, but slower, cooo = queue, how're yer gettin arn = Norfolk greeting, on the huh = Something being uneven.0 -
Vitality health members get half price Virgin Active (or Nuffield) membership as well as free weekly cinema tickets and Starbucks drinks - although you need to go to the gym 3 times a week to get those latter rewards.
You may find these benefits save you less than the health insurance. They also have a referral scheme where you and the referrer get £50 of John Lewis vouchers.
Worth checking out - as this may be cheaper.0 -
I was going to mention Vitality too. I haven't joined Virgin/Nuffield as there aren't any locally, but it'd save me a reasonable amount of money if I could. Actually the other scheme we have at work offers discounts on the above plus two others, neither of which are local to me either!
If the 30 mins is in a direction that you would be travelling anyway then that's fine, but I think it could be a lot of fuel and time to use if it's out of your way.
Have you got a DW Fitness nearby? I've been a member for 2.5 years now (trained in a private gym with a PT for 5 years before that) and every one has a pool and a well stocked gym with various classes. The membership allows you to train at any gym in the country, so I regularly go to three different ones depending on where I'm working.0
