Hi All,
Got my Co-operative Cashminder card through today :T No doubt the account will get frozen when I go BR shortly but at least I won't have to worry/wait to set one up after BR.
My advice would be to open an account before you go BR and when you credit rating looks good.

Stubie.
Hi we did this and our account was not frozen,we had informed COOP when applying we were going BR and they were fine about it.When it got near date of BR we spoke to them again and for a third time on day of BR on each occasion they were supportive and helpful.
Good look and well done .Some of the best lessons we ever learn,we learn from our mistakes and failures.the error of the past is the success and wisdom of the future. :j0 -

Makes no difference when you open it to be honest. And if you did manage to get an account with a debit card prior to bankruptcy you would, without doubt, have to hand the card back straight away.DISCHARGED 12th December 2007:T

Yes would agree with you, if it were a visa debit card but it is a visa electron card.0

Hi Stubie
My husband also opened a Co-op Cashminder account before going bankrupt. Before his OR interview he got a letter saying he had to cut up ALL his cards and send them to the OR. He phoned up to query this and it was confirmed by the OR's assistant that 'if ' his Cashminder a/c was unfrozen he would then have to apply for a new card! Fortunately for my OH he waited for his OR interview when he was told the OR had no interest in the account so he could keep his card. The Co-op unfroze the account immediately so OH was fine.
Just thought I'd warn you as I suppose the OR was perfectly within his rights to ask for all the cards in the first place.
